THIS IS NOT A DRILL: Valentine’s day is less than  24 hours away. If you’re frantically rechecking the date, you’re not alone. The Chicago Tribune reports that nearly 80% of people wait until the week of to find their gift- with 1 in 3 woman waiting until the day of or before.           

 If you’ve found yourself in this group, there’s no need to panic. Don’t frantically search downtown restaurants for cancellations. Now is a perfect time to support your local businesses and restaurants right here in Boone and Hamilton county. With that in mind, we have prepared a list of some great considerations for your Valentine’s day itinerary:

1. Trader’s Point Creamery

This Carmel-based farm and creamery isn’t just for dairy products such as cheese, yogurt, and milk. They’ve also got a restaurant featuring organic products. And for Valentine’s day, they’re offering a candlelight champagne dinner in their rustic restored barn. The meal boasts three courses and live harp music.

2. Rosie’s Place

Your valentine have a sweet tooth? Café “Rosie’s Place” originated in Noblesville before coming to Zionsville in 2014. The bakery offers breakfast, lunch, or the quick pastry and coffee to go. An afternoon stop might be just the thing if you’re trying to avoid the crowded dinner rush. And Rosie’s Place has a slew of designs specific for the holiday, some of which they’ve shared with us. 3. J Razzo’s

An Italian restaurant and wine bar, this local establishment describe themselves as “old world flavors in the new world décor.” They’ve got branches in nearby Westfield and Carmel and offer over 80 different kinds of wine. And it’s not just pasta and pizza on the menu- they’ve got a rich seafood selection including shrimp and scallops. The menu will include some specials for the holiday.

4. Hopwoods Cellar

Voted the “best entertainment in Zionsville” by the Zionsville Sentinel Times Newspaper, this local winery has live music along with a variety of events on top of the typical wine tasting. For Valentine’s day you can check out their “Valentine’s Day Wine & Chocolate” event (ask for cheese if you’re not a sweet fan!) Several tasting stations will be available, and the first 30 couples will receive a special Valentine’s gift when they purchase a bottle.

5. Crust Pizzeria Napoletena

If you’re looking for a traditional Naples experience, look no farther. Crust Pizzeria in Carmel hosts a stone hearth oven consistently kept at 700 degrees Fahrenheit.  They are committed to using high quality ingredients that are fresh market and MSG free. This year, Valentine’s day coincides with their annual ½ off bottles of wine night, making for a good evening.
